How to vote?

About Me
I’m Edgar Lu, your independent candidate for Epping. Like many voters in Epping, I am:
- a dedicated husband who chose to quit his job and become a full-time dad to support his wife in pursuing her career in Australia.
- a committed father who values his children’s education and fights to make sure ALL kids have a fair go in this country we all call home.
- a go-getter, who, while being the primary caregiver, built himself from scratch into Australia’s largest online political commentator in Mandarin.
- a proud Aussie, who is a first generation migrant, advocating for multiculturalism and caring about everybody in the community.
Please vote "1" Edgar Lu at the election on Saturday the 19th of October, an independent candidate for a better Epping and Australia. Thank you.
Our Visions

Like many voters in our electorate, I’m a parent and a new immigrant who values education as a top priority in my life.
Give me a chance, and I will work tirelessly to build a fairer educational landscape where every child in Epping has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
Merit-based Selection for schools, NO unfair “equity” placement model
Reopen discussions on the so-called "Equity Placement Model" introduced by the outgoing Epping MP, Mr. Dominic Perrottet to ensure every child has a fair chance to succeed based on their merit.
Needs-based funding for education, NO subsidy for luxurious facilities
I support increasing government funding for public schools and curbing subsidies and tax benefits for overly extravagant private educational facilities.
Say NO to radical ideologies
I want to keep radical ideologies out of our classrooms to prevent unnecessary division in society, especially within our multicultural communities.
Embrace AI safely in education
AI is a revolutionary tool that I believe can create greater equality in education. We should embrace it, but with the necessary caution.
When Equity is actually UNFAIR
Selective education is not a social program
Hello, my name is Edgar Lu, your independent candidate for the October 19 Epping by-election. Many of you know me better as “Sydney Daddy,” a YouTuber advocating for democracy, rule of law, and individual freedom, with 280,000 subscribers.
I call myself “Sydney Daddy” because over four years ago, I resigned from a higher-paying job to become a full-time dad to support my wife, who had recently moved to Australia and was returning to the workforce after childbirth. In the midst of managing my family, I gradually built my YouTube channel using basic equipment.
Like many Epping voters, I value family, prioritize children, and place education at the core. That’s why, as a long-time public supporter of the Liberal Party, I am furious with the former NSW Premier and recently resigned Epping MP, Dominic Perrottet. He disregarded global trends and the core values of the Liberal Party by pushing the Equity Placement Model in 2022, allocating up to 25% of selective school seats to what he considers “disadvantaged” groups, such as students whose parents don’t have university degrees.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the vast majority of immigrants to Australia over the past decade have been skilled migrants with university degrees. However, many of them struggle to find jobs matching their qualifications and are working hard for their families under inflationary pressure. Yet to Perrottet, these families are not “disadvantaged” but instead can be sacrificed, even stripping them of their children’s education opportunities, which they hold dear and strive to secure!
After 45 years of social experimentation, the US Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that affirmative action in university admissions is unconstitutional. Initial data from post-ruling admissions show that affirmative action was not only unfair but also ineffective. It’s ironic that the Liberal Party, founded by Sir Robert Menzies with meritocracy as a core value, would self-sabotage for the sake of the 2023 election.
If elected, my first priority will be to push for amendments or even repeal of this policy, calling for a renewed, broad debate to consider all perspectives, especially those from the most affected groups.
The Liberal candidate in this Epping by-election, Monica Tudehope, was Perrottet’s chief of staff and the daughter of one of Perrottet’s long-time political allies. She won’t touch her boss’s political legacy. Change must come from us!
Why could Perrottet easily sacrifice the core interests of Epping voters? It’s because Epping voters’ loyalty to the Liberal Party makes them feel like you are expendable. Compared to marginal seat voters, YOU DON’T MATTER!
So please, vote "1" Edgar Lu, use your ballot to tell the Liberal Party and every political force in Australia:
“Bloody oath, We matter!”
